An introduction to Yoga.

IMPROVE YOUR FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH AND PURPOSE

We start with you as you are, with no judgement or requirement. Using the tools of yoga we will help you discover - or rediscover - what your body is capable of. Alongside the progression you will see physically, we'll also explore your focus and overall wellbeing.

The hour long private sessions are completely bespoke to you.  We'll discover your goals and we'll work together to find the very best way of achieving them. 

At our first meeting we will discuss your expectations, I will introduce you to the studio and how it works, we will discuss what happens in a yoga class, and I will lead you through some of the basics of yoga. If it is appropriate we will then try a few introductory movements, breathing exercises and a calming relaxation to finish.

Following our initial meeting and assuming  you would like to continue I recommend four sessions to provide a basic understanding of yoga, which should give an essence of the longer term improvements a continued practice will provide.

I run small group classes  as a follow on to the one and ones so you get a smooth transition into the world of yoga.

All sessions take place in the private studio at Fold Yoga, based in The Engine Rooms on Sunderland Street. Please contact me directly for any further information you might need, or to arrange your first session. 

ABOUT ME

I came to yoga around 8 years ago as a somewhat sceptical and "inflexible bloke". I began my practice in studios locally and then enrolled on a 12 month British Wheel of Yoga course to further my daily practice. Having since completed RYT200 hours teacher training under the tutelage of Zen Master Julian Daizen-Skinner my practice has taken me on a more mindful path combining meditation with a focussed awareness of the physical body and how it moves to create balance and harmony.

I regularly retreat to a remote area of Portugal to help me develop my knowledge and practice.

I believe yoga is for EVERYONE and I want to help you take your first steps in an enjoyable, unintimidating and rewarding way. 

Working alongside the fantastic team at Fold Yoga Studio in Macclesfield, I will lead you in my Introduction to Yoga course which will provide you with the tools and information to further your practice.

Hatha Yoga With Mike


Hatha Yoga with Mike is designed to follow on from the introduction stage of Yoga With Mike and is a for you if you have gained a basic understanding of yoga and might be looking to increase your knowledge and to try something slightly more challenging, introducing a more balanced yoga practice with breathwork and meditation . The classes will remain small so individual attention and adjustments can be made.

The 1 hour classes remain bespoke to those in attendance and will follow a basic pattern of settling into the space, followed by slow breath led movement, developing into a form of sun salutation and flow sequence, balance work, and strengthening will be introduced if appropriate followed by seated postures, slowing to Yin style and eventually into a good few minutes of relaxation.

As always my classes are without judgement, are meant to safely challenge but most of all to be enjoyed.
